USEA has launched an Affordable Warmth Network across Oxfordshire to advise residents how to keep warm over winter while keeping their fuel bills down.
This includes the launch of a free phone number offering advice on loft and cavity wall insulation, heating replacement grants, switching suppliers, fuel debt, energy efficiency and other support organisations. Residents can call the Affordable Warmth Helpline for free impartial advice on 0800 107 00 44.
USEA will be active within Oxfordshire, providing training to front line professionals who are in contact with residents struggling with their heating bills. They will be trained on the causes of fuel poverty, the consequences and the help available to residents. We will be talking directly to vulnerable residents through community groups such as carer support groups and through organised events.
USEA will be mapping factors which cause fuel poverty to build a profile of Oxfordshire. This will help to target the right activities and information to the right areas.
The network will be lead by a steering group consisting of Oxfordshire County Council, the five District Councils, the PCT, Citizens Advice Bureau, Age Concern and Warm Front. The steering group will set the direction of the network, making sure the information is being given to those most in need.
The network has been made possible by a Performance Reward Grant related to the Local Area Agreement (2006-2009).
